Wow! Free cloud storage now 15GB on Google Drive

The 5GB free cloud storage is now enhanced. Google announced the expansion up to 15GB. Users of Google Drive, Google+ and Gmail can now enjoy more freedom of storing their files and folders on the cloud.

But, the announcement came just ahead of Google I/O developers conference to be held in San Francisco. Is there any between this free storage expansion announcement and the I/O event? This is the big question as of now.

There may be two reasons to this. The first that there may be any new product announcement at the I/O that will incorporate with the Google+ or Gmail, and that may require too much of space. It may be a new online game is in the pipeline.

If not, there is a simple answer to the storage expansion. Google may just want to remain on the top notch position. Its main rivals are Amazon Cloud Storage, Microsoft SkyDrive, Apple iCloud, SugarSync and Dropbox. In usual 5GB storage is available with most of the cloud service providers.

Well, the popular Dropbox just offers 2GB of free cloud storage but Microsoft offers 7GB on its SkyDrive.

Google says the changes will be rolled out in next few weeks. Also, last week Google Drive was update that allows saving of files from Web to Drive directly.

One thing is very sure that offering 15GB of free cloud storage will be a game changer in the free storage market. Google surely has some money making strategy behind this announcement that goes not known yet.

Whatever be the reason, as of now the offer is more appealing than before and of course more appealing than the competitors. Isn't it?
