Screen
The Samsung Galaxy S3 sports 4.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen providing a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels where as Galaxy Grand comes with 5-inch TFT capacitive touch screen and offers resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
Design
It is to take note here that Samsung Galaxy Grand has in fact taken the design of Galaxy S3. Also, it looks hybrid device between Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3.
Samsung says the design of Galaxy S3 has been inspired by nature as it can see, it can listen and even respond.
The dimension of Samsung Galaxy S3 is 136 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm where as that of Galaxy Grand is 143.5 x 76.9 x 9.6 mm. The S3 weighs 133 grams and the Grand is 162 grams heavy smartphone.
Operating system
Samsung Galaxy S3 comes out of the box with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and is upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The Grand on the other hand comes out of the box with the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Processor
The Galaxy S3 is powered by quad-core 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 processor, Exynos 4412 quad chipset and Mali-400MP GPU. The Grand is powered by dual-core 1.2GHz CPU. Both the devices have 1GB of RAM.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy S3 is equipped with 8MP rear camera and 1.9MP front camera. The primary camera offers image resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and it features LED flash and autofocus. The Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with 2MP primary camera.
Battery
Galaxy S3 is fueled by 2100 mAh battery and so is the Grand, but Samsung claims the S3 provides 700 minutes of talk time where as Grand offers 600 minutes talk time.
Memory
Samsung has released three versions of its Galaxy S3 in terms of on-board storage. Those are 16GB, 32GB and 32GB. The Galaxy Grand on the other hand comes only in 8GB version. However, both the phone supports expandable of memory up to 64GB via microSD cards.
