Is Microsoft to announce Xbox 720 on May 21

On May 21 Microsoft will spill the beans. It is learned from a report on The Verge the software giant may announce its next generation Xbox, the console that was awaited for more than a year and was earlier scheduled to be unveiled this month.

In an interview Paul Thurrott, writer for Supersite for Windows, said Microsoft earlier planned of announcing the new console, codenamed as Durango, on April 24, but re-plans to announced at an event on May 21.


According to The Verge, the May 21 event will be small and Microsoft will only be sharing few first details. Sources of the blog claims the unveiling of the console may take place in June at the E3 event in Los Angeles.

Thurrott further added the new Xbox console will be less expensive than the current version. It may cost $500 and $300 for the regular console and subscription-based model respectively.

It is also learned from sources the Durango console will need connection always, probably Internet connection. Moreover, the console may be released by early November this year, probably in time to lure the holiday shoppers.
