The HP Slate 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and it is priced tagged $169.99, below the entry-level prices of Google Nexus, Amazon Kindle Fire HD or Samsung Galaxy Tab. Those are tagged with $199 price.
Currently the shipment is being done for the U.S. market. The order for the tablet is being taken from the official website of HP for U.S. and U.K. The U.K. shipment will begin from May 1.
HP hopes the competitively priced Slate 7 tablet would bring success for the company in its tablet division. Currently the company will be relying on Google for the delivery of TV shows, movies and music content for the device, but it promises of coming up with its own cloud service in future.
After poor sales of TouchPad in the market HP sold the left over inventory for as low as $99. The tablet was run on webOS. In February this year HP sold webOS assets too to LG.
