Martin Cooper was the first person to make a call from a cell phone. He is the former Motorola vice president and division manager. Forty years ago he made a cell phone call on DynaTAC phone of the company standing on Sixth Avenue in front of the New York Hilton. He phoned to Bell Labs' head of research. In those days Bell Labs was also attempting to build up first cell phone.
The large and bulky mobile phones of those days are now sleek smartphones and tablets equipped with massive brains and capable of accessing super-fast wireless connection.
Now people not only use the phones to make calls but to do lot of more things like browsing Internet, play games, order delivery food, e-mails, text messages, tsunami updates etc, etc and etc.
Martin Cooper remains a revered figure in the mobile phone history but lot has changed for Motorola. The once world-beating giant in the telecom industry has now been swallowed by search giant Google, which dominates the industry with its Android OS.
