What is Plan B for Microsoft after record drop in PC sales

The PC sales have dropped to the worst in nearly 20 years. IDC reveals the drop is 13.9 percent. Much of the blame of sharp sales decline goes to Windows 8, the recently launched operating system by Microsoft on which the company had great hope.

Now, what is plan B for the tech titan. Isn't it need to take some very tough decisions for moving forward? Surely yes, but it doesn't seem Microsoft really have a plan B.


It is fact the company cannot undo the new look of its Windows 8 OS. It is learned engineering and testing new operating system takes three years for any software company.

As of now the company is simply pushing for patience. In the first few months Microsoft sold 60 million Windows 8 licenses. It is also assumed hardware partners of the company to come up with new Windows 8 devices in near future and this will capture interest of consumers.

Microsoft is then surely doubling down its bet for the OS. Added to it is a handful of success of its own Surface tablet.
